This is for raising money for the National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) for an extreme, challenge and amaze expendition. Oliver Westbury is going take part of North Pole Expendition next April 2008! Yes North Pole! I kid you NOT! We are possiblity first two profound deaf people to reach North Pole if either of us completed raise £27,000 each.
I’m going to join a special team to help each other to get there. We are not going to take an easy route such as fly there to North Pole. We have to walk on ice surface for 70 miles over Artic Ocean! Imagine what our team would have to face extreme weather conditions such as freeze cold, gales force winds and dodgy hungry Polar bears. Without right equipments we could possibly face frost bites, missed and even death! No, compass is useless in North Pole because arrow would go spinning as it is in North Pole!
The April 2008 exclusive Arctic expedition aims to make a surface crossing of the Arctic Ocean between latitude 89N and the Geographic North Pole at 90N, known as "The Last Degree". Our team will be undertaking a foot journey of 60 nautical miles (approximately 70 statute miles).
The NDCS are the only charity in the UK that work solely with deaf children and their families, providing valuable advice and support from the moment those families learn that their child is deaf, right through to adulthood. This is a National, unique and vital frontline service.
Did you know that approximately 1,100 deaf children are born every year in the UK? 90 per cent of deaf children grow up in hearing families with little or no experience of deafness. Your support for this expedition will enable these services to continue, offering not just hope, but practical support to deaf people and their carers. My aim is for deaf children to see the world without barriers and to help them make the right life choices; you can be a part of that goal.
